    It's extremely important that Army National Guard communications don't fall into the wrong hands. As the Radio and Communications Security Repairer, you will maintain the equipment and systems that ensure Army National Guard units can communicate over secure channels.
    Your duties will include installing and repairing circuits and wiring, calibrating and aligning equipment components, and stringing overhead cables between utility poles. Other duties include repairing systems, performing equipment tests, and performing preventive maintenance checks and services on equipment.
    Advanced Radio and Communications Security Repairers take on more challenging projects, including training and supervising other Soldiers, testing equipment, performing complex repairs, and ensuring that the National Security Agency-approved components are used in communication security/controlled cryptographic item repairs.

    Qualifications Required:

    • Registered Nurse with a valid, unencumbered Texas license or GN Permit
    • BLS certification required (American Heart Association)
    • Must have working knowledge of the nursing process as well as in-depth knowledge of therapeutic, physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and developmental needs for a select category of patients.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

    Nurse Extern II - Nursing Internship

    Summary:

    Under the supervision and/or direction of the Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern II performs various direct patient care activities in accordance with the Nursing Department policies and procedures. The Nurse Extern II can assist with the care of hospitalized patients. The Nurse Extern II may be assigned other functions in accordance with hospital/department policies, procedures, and protocols.

    Responsibilities:

    • Life-threatening situations are readily identified and reported to the R.N. Initiates and assists with basic life support when needed.
    • Observes/reports unusual symptoms to the nurse, i.e., abnormal V/S; IV site redness, edema; suspicious areas of skin breakdown accurately and promptly.
    • Reports patient/family-related problems, i.e., patient’s dissatisfaction/refusal of nursing care routines; departure from activity advancements or restrictions.
    • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the aseptic/sterile technique. Follows universal precautions.
    • Records information accurately and promptly. Reports change in patient’s condition and/or vital signs.
    • Assists with laboratory specimens, i.e., collection or delivery.
    • Complies with timekeeping system. Accrues no unexcused absences, and no more than three unscheduled absences.
    • Uses supplies and equipment appropriately documents use in the medical record and records charges appropriately.
    • Participates in 80% of prescribed in-service programs and departmental meetings. When unable to attend (20% max) follow up to obtain information discussed.
    • Follows hospital and/or unit policy for dress and personal hygiene.
    • Follows necessary safety precautions, hospital policies, and departmental policies.
    • Attends infection control and safety programs.
    • Follows hospital policies and/or departmental rules.
    • Follows the CHRISTUS Health Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
    • Associate timely completes all required educational requirements.

    Requirements:

    Education/Skills

    • Nurse Extern II - students in RN school in clinicals
    • Currently enrolled in a nursing program to obtain either an associate degree or bachelor’s degree to become a registered nurse
    • Must have completed their first hospital clinical rotation and be in good standing in the nursing program
    • Proficient in basic nursing tasks

    Experience

    • Six (6) months of experience in patient care preferred

    Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

    • AHA BLS required within 2 weeks of employment
    • Provides updated transcript at beginning of semester
