Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of educationMinimum 4+ years of combined experience in a site support technician and / or infrastructure technician role (or similar experience)Data Center experience requiredMinimum 3+ years of experience in racking, stacking, connecting, and providing basic configuration support of networking or server devices requiredMinimum 3+ years of combined experience working in data centers, labs, or server room environments requiredMaintaining network environment as part of onsite team in support of physical touch (Smart Hands) support of Incident and or RequestsProviding incident support by working with remote level 2 / 3 teams to assist in resolving outages and fixing issues including replacement of cabling or hardware componentsProviding service request support and working with remote network support teams to install hardware or patch cables to enable new services for customersParticipating in hardware rack and stack installation of both network and server equipment, cable management, and installation of required fiber and copper patch leads, providing console access to remote team for configuration if required and testing connectivity after installation and configuration Data Center Maintenance:Proactive walkthrough for failed hardwarePhysical audit of supported systemsProper disposal of hardware and media following client guidelinesManage incident & request tickets assigned to queueValidate server(s) / taskContact client for information / request downtime etc.Diagnose problem, remotely if possible / on site if required – order parts as requiredRepair / replace / configure as required within scopeComplete paperwork Landings:Validate server(s) landing requirementsContact client as required for informationPhysical land of hardware in correct locationBuild to proper configuration according to client requirements and cut sheetRequest tasks from required groups for additional servicesMonitor tasks for completion or problems and escalate to appropriate parties to resolveUpdate asset tracking system with server name, location, and owner Decoms:Validate serverInform client of decomRequest decom tasks from required groups to remove server(s) from their servicesValidate that dependent services have been haltedPower off and remove server(s)Dispose of hardware as requested by owner BackUp / BAR Support:Escalate unresolved issues to Tier 2 or 3 specialist or client BaR contactsCoordinate tasks with other client techsPhysical installation of backup hardwareInstall operating system on backup server hardwareMaintain client required trainingMedia Management:Eject tapes from tape libraries in accordance with disaster recovery targetsPrepare and ship tapes to offsite storage vendorReceive tapes from offsite storage vendorLoad tape libraries with tapes for Scratch Pool; new, returned expired, recalled for on-demand restoresPerform post-tape load processes on tape librariesRecall tapes from offsite storage vendorManage on-site surplus tape inventoryManage the tape lifecycle using backup and library software, and any third-party toolsDispose of damaged or EOL tapes in accordance with client information security policiesMonitor and respond to media errors and tape alerts from backup software and tape libraries Wage Range:The rate for this position is between $22.09 - $29.45 per hour, unless local minimum wage is higher.
