Job Description:

We are seeking a proven business leader to serve as Vice President & General Manager - GreenLake Flex Solutions, reporting to the SVP/GM of Private Cloud & GreenLake Flex Solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to lead the transformation of GreenLake Flex Solutions into a simpler, more differentiated and consistently executable AAS growth business. This role combines full business ownership with the opportunity to reshape how HPE designs, prices, sells, delivers and scales solutions for customers and partners.

The most important requirements are strong operational skills, deep understanding of commercial models and proven experience in the AAS business. The successful candidate must be able to transform a complex global operation, with particular strength in configure, price and quote (CPQ), approvals, cross‑functional execution and accountability. The leader must also understand how pricing, commitments, unit economics, contracts and partner economics shape the GreenLake Flex Solutions value proposition and determine how to scale the business profitably.

Technology fluency is important as a supporting capability. The leader must be able to connect infrastructure, software and services choices to customer value and outcomes, commercial differentiation and operational feasibility, while using HPE Hybrid Cloud IP to strengthen the overall proposition.

What you will accomplish

  • Transform the end-to-end operating model, with particular focus on CPQ, approvals and handoffs through order, deployment, activation, metering, billing, renewal and expansion.

  • Strengthen the GreenLake Flex Solutions value proposition through compelling commercial models and integrated HPE Hybrid Cloud IP, including software, automation, operations and resilience capabilities.

  • Deliver sustainable profitable growth through disciplined management of revenue, margin, cash, operating expense, investment priorities and unit economics.

  • Make AAS solutions easier for customers and partners to understand, buy, implement, use and expand, improving time-to-value, adoption, satisfaction and renewal.

  • Build a more scalable portfolio through standardized, repeatable offers and ensure GreenLake Flex Solutions is designed into priority HPE solutions from the outset.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate and transform the business

  • Own the strategy, multi-year plan, P&L and operating performance of GreenLake Flex Solutions.

  • Simplify CPQ, approvals and cross‑functional handoffs, creating clear decision rights, operating mechanisms and accountability across Product, Engineering, Sales, Services, Finance, HPE Financial Services, Supply Chain, Operations and IT.

  • Improve CPQ cycle time, approval velocity, order‑to‑activation, metering and billing accuracy, adoption, renewal and cost to serve.

  • Shape the value proposition and portfolio

  • Own the commercial architecture, including pricing, commitments, ramp models, unit economics, contracts, discount governance, partner economics and lifecycle value.

  • Create scalable AAS offers that are competitive for customers and partners, sustainable for HPE and differentiated from capital purchase, leasing and competing as‑a‑service models.

  • Integrate HPE Hybrid Cloud IP into the GreenLake Flex Solutions proposition, including Morpheus, OpsRamp, VME and Zerto, to deliver stronger automation, control, modernization and resilience outcomes.

  • Lead portfolio choices and roadmap trade‑offs across private cloud, storage, software, AI, networking and services, balancing differentiation, speed, cost, quality, security and supportability.

  • Lead customers, partners and the organization

  • Act as the senior business owner for strategic customers, partners, complex pursuits and material escalations, improving the journey from proposition and contracting through deployment, adoption, renewal and expansion.

  • Set the go‑to‑market direction with Sales, Services, Marketing and channel leaders, strengthening seller readiness, partner scale and customer advocacy.

  • Build a high‑performing global organization with clear roles, strong succession and an accountable culture that accelerates decisions and drives issues to closure.

  • Experience and capabilities

  • Significant executive leadership experience operating and transforming a complex global technology, services, cloud or AAS business, with ownership of financial, commercial and operational outcomes.

  • Strong practical experience in CPQ, pricing, unit economics, contracting, cost management, approvals, order management, activation, metering, billing and lifecycle execution.

  • Demonstrated ability to design or reshape commercial and AAS models to improve customer value, competitiveness, deal velocity, adoption and profitable growth.

  • Deep understanding of the AAS lifecycle, including offer design, commitments, contracting, capacity planning, activation, telemetry, metering, billing, adoption, renewals and expansion.

  • Broad technology understanding across private cloud, compute, storage, networking, software, AI and services, with the judgment to connect technology choices to customer and business outcomes.

  • Executive credibility with customers, partners, sales teams, technical leaders and senior enterprise stakeholders.

Leadership qualities

  • Operator mindset: simplifies processes, establishes mechanisms, uses facts, makes decisions and drives closure.

Your Impact

We are looking for a Head of Customer Success & Account Management to build and lead our post-sales function as we scale. This is a foundational leadership role: you will own the customer lifecycle after close, from onboarding and adoption through renewals, expansion and executive relationships. The ideal candidate has carried retention and expansion targets, built a high-performing customer success and account management motion for complex enterprise customers, and is AI-native, using agents, automation and customer signals to identify risk, accelerate value realization and scale high-touch engagement without linear headcount growth. You will be a player-coach early, directly owning strategic accounts while you build the team, operating model and playbook behind you.

Candidates are ideally based in the SF Bay Area or willing to relocate (you will be working on-site at our Mountain View office a few days a week), but remote candidates will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Retention & Expansion: Own gross and net revenue retention, renewal performance and expansion pipeline. Set targets, build the forecast, and hold the team accountable to predictable renewals and durable account growth.

  • Customer Outcomes: Build a rigorous lifecycle from onboarding through adoption and value realization, including success plans, health scoring, usage milestones and executive business reviews. Ensure customers can tie our products to measurable business outcomes.

  • Strategic Account Management: Personally own our highest-value and most complex accounts. Build multi-threaded relationships across technical, business and executive stakeholders, lead renewal and expansion strategy, and navigate escalations with urgency and judgment.

  • Post-Sales Operating Model: Define customer segmentation, coverage, service levels and the division of responsibilities across Customer Success, Account Management, Solutions, Support and Sales. Create repeatable playbooks that scale without sacrificing customer quality.

  • Systems, Data & AI: Own the post-sales stack and reporting layer, including CRM hygiene, customer health, product usage, renewal and expansion forecasting. Use AI agents and automation for account research, meeting intelligence, risk detection, next-best actions and scalable customer engagement.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with Sales on handoffs and account strategy, and with Product, Engineering and Support on adoption blockers, escalations and the voice of the customer. Translate recurring customer needs into clear product and operational priorities.

  • Player-Coach: Directly manage strategic accounts while recruiting, ramping and coaching our first Customer Success and Account Management hires.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in customer success, account management or post-sales, including 3+ years leading and hiring teams

  • Track record of building or scaling a post-sales motion at a high-growth startup and consistently delivering strong gross retention, net retention and expansion results

  • Experience owning a renewal and expansion number, with the commercial judgment to forecast accurately, negotiate complex renewals and create account growth plans

  • Deep experience managing strategic enterprise customers, building executive relationships and navigating technical, operational and commercial complexity

  • Comfort with highly technical products and technical buyers, with the credibility to engage Product and Engineering teams as well as senior business stakeholders

  • Hands-on command of modern CRM and customer success tooling, plus a strong point of view on using AI, automation, product usage and customer signals to scale the function

  • Demonstrated ability to hire, ramp and retain strong Customer Success and Account Management talent, with a bench of people who would join you again

  • Ability to operate independently and thrive in ambiguity, with no task too small and exceptional written and verbal communication skills

The United States base salary range for this full-time position is between $230,000 - $290,000 + variable + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
