About The Maternal Health-NICU Psychologist

The Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences seeks a Maternal Health-NICU Psychologist to provide broad clinical services across varied settings and modalities, including integrated and co-located healthcare venues, tele-mental health, subspecialty pediatric clinics and traditional mental health outpatient clinics. Student loan forgiveness is available for faculty of the Department of Psychiatry through the Texas Mental Health Professionals Loan Repayment Program .

This faculty member will provide clinical practice in integrated inpatient medical settings and outpatient behavioral health settings with a specific focus on working with women and families in the perinatal period, particularly those with medical complications in the perinatal and/or neonatal period.

Essential Functions

Inpatient Clinical Services in the NICU at Seton Medical Center Austin (SMCA)

Complete health behavior assessments and interventions in the neonatal intensive care unit (Interventions in the NICU are provided to address factors related to the infant's medical condition, health, and wellness).

Attend and lead multidisciplinary psychosocial rounds and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and care conferences

Provide consultation to multidisciplinary providers and staff

Provide dyadic interventions to enhance bonding and optimize health outcomes

Attend and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and team rounds

Provide timely documentation and billing

Outpatient Clinical Services

Provide mental health services (individual, group, and couples/family) to women and partners with medical complications in the perinatal and/or neonatal period through in-person and telehealth modalities.

Provide brief mental health services to women in the perinatal period, including those experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss and/or infertility.

Provide brief mental health services to women and partners during pregnancy or postpartum with perinatal depression, anxiety, trauma and other concerns.

Develop and lead wellness promotion groups for women and families in the perinatal period

Provide palliative behavioral health care and bereavement support, as necessary

Training/Education and Program Activities

Supervise clinical health psychology trainees and/or postdoctoral fellow(s) in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings

About The Program

The Department of Neurology at The University of Texas Dell Medical School (DMS), in conjunction with the UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children's, is recruiting two epileptologists to join our thriving Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Center and pediatric neurology faculty. The UT Health Austin Pediatric Neurosciences at Dell Children's is a multidisciplinary program that encompasses child neurology, pediatric rehabilitation medicine, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric neuropsychology, and pediatric neuro-ophthalmology. Our Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is comprised of six epileptologists, 2 epilepsy surgeons, 3 neuropsychologists, six epilepsy nurse practitioners, a dedicated program administrator, dedicated epilepsy nurses, 24/7 EEG technologists, four program coordinators, and a full complement of support staff that support our level IV Epilepsy Program that offers comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for children with epilepsy. Our program supports all levels of epilepsy care with multidisciplinary clinics including surgical epilepsy, ketogentic diet, functional neurologic disorders, genetic epilepsy clinic and an accredited tuberous sclerosis center of excellence. The epilepsy program also engages with international partners where care is provided in regions such as Kenya, St. Lucia, Antigua and Tobago. Positive Emission Tomography, Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography, Wada and 3T MRI are standard available techniques, and in which we complete 80 Magnetoencephalograms as well as Trans Magnetic Stimulation and functional MRI's yearly. Our epilepsy surgery program had over 1300 referrals in 2025 and completed more than 90 resective and device surgeries in 2025. A full team which also includes integrated physical medicine and rehabilitation, social workers, psychologists, child life specialists, physical and occupational therapists, provides unparalleled care for patients and their families every step of the way. The hospital supports an 8-bed inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit, and outpatient space is available in the adjoining 44,000 square foot neurosciences clinic within the Dell Children's Specialty Pavilion.

The pediatric neurosciences program is dedicated to training the next generation of pediatric neurologists and epilepsy specialists. We currently host a child neurology residency, adult neurology residency along with fellowships in pediatric epilepsy, pediatric headache, and pediatric neuropsychology with future expansion in pediatric rehabilitation medicine and pediatric neuromuscular disease.

About the Department of Internal Medicine

The Department of Internal Medicine is home to 20 categorical residents per year, which includes a Primary Care Track and a Distinctions Track in Care Transformation, plus 5 preliminary interns in Medicine. Field Medical Director, Radiation Oncology As a FMD, you will be a key member of the utilization management team.   • Routinely interacts with leadership and management staff, other Physicians, and staff whenever a physician s input is needed or required.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Serve as the Physician match reviewer in Radiation Oncology and imaging cases, that do not initially meet the applicable medical necessity guidelines, as well as other imaging requests when providers, clients, or state laws require specialty reviews to be completed by the subject matter expert.

  • Discusses determinations (peer to peer phone calls) with requesting physicians or ordering providers, when available, within the regulatory timeframe of the request and provides clinical rationale for standard and expedited appeals.

  • Utilizes medical/clinical review guidelines and parameters to assure consistency in the MD review process to reflect appropriate utilization and compliance with SBU s policies/procedures, as well as Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) guidelines.

  • Aids and acts as a resource to Initial Clinical Reviewers.

  • Ensures documentation of all communications with medical office staff and/or MD provider is recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
