What You’ll Need: 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree required, Doctorate degree preferred

• Licensed Physical Therapist in the state practicing in

• Completed state regulated CEU requirement in appropriate state (NY, NJ)

• Valid CPR License

• Experience/knowledge with an EMR software is preferred

 What You’ll Do:

• Collects and records patient care data that follows format and guidelines of the patient care service, regulatory agencies and third-party payers which reflects an understanding of reimbursement systems and their impact on patient care.

o This includes, but is not limited to, initial evaluation, daily notes, reassessments/progress reports, discharge plans and communication with members of the team.

• Additionally records daily billing and follows department guidelines for productivity.

• Prepares for the evaluation in accordance with department policies/procedures and standards of practice including obtaining patient history, exhibiting knowledge of patient diagnoses and researching unfamiliar diagnoses.

• Selects and administers tests and measures.

• Additionally, synthesizes evaluation results to formulate the diagnosis, goals, prognosis and plan of care.

• Establishes treatment plan based on evaluation results, goals and best practice. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team, patients and patient’s support system. Assesses and re-assesses need for modifications to plan of care and goals.

• Identifies need for consultations and/or refers the patient to another health care professional or health care services. Initiates and completes discharge plan.

• Provides education/training to patient and/or patient support system

• Training-This includes but is not limited to ADLs/IADLs, therapeutic activities (e.g. transfers, bed mobility), rehabilitation equipment prescription and training and community reintegration

• Responsible for treatment, plan of care, exercise prescription for patient caseload

• Provides interventions to patients that are safe, effective, and in compliance with JAG

• Musculoskeletal Interventions-This includes but is not limited to therapeutic exercise, joint mobilization and modalities

• Provide data, note writing using Prompt EMR for all treatments provided

• Oversee support staff of PTA, ATC, PT aides

• Attends annual JAG Billing and Coding seminar

• Promotes JAG in the community through lectures/presentations

Summary:

The Postpartum Registered Nurse provides specialized, family-centered care to mothers and newborns in the postpartum unit.   • Administer prescribed medications and treatments to mothers and newborns safely and accurately, following established protocols
  • Assess and monitor the health of postpartum mothers and newborns, identifying changes, addressing complications, and recording significant conditions and reactions
  • Assist with and educate on breastfeeding, addressing challenges to ensure successful feeding practices
  • Perform newborn assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, and required screening tests
  • Respond to life-saving situations using evidence-based protocols and best practices
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
  • Educate new parents on infant care, maternal recovery, and postpartum health, including safe sleep practices and early signs of complications

Required Skills/Experience: Will take first-time travelers with strong ICU and previous float pool experience. Cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent and BiPAP management, invasive line management, ostomy, general drains, traches, chest tubes, lumbar drains, IV medication titration.

Required Credentials: If you have a multistate license, you will be required to complete a 1-time 6-hour suicide prevention training according to WA state regulations.

Special Requests: Any RTO or special requests not included on your application will NOT be considered. You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility. Manager approval is required for more than 5 days off.

Unit Details: Expected patient population includes covid patients; neuro, trauma, medical, and surgical patients; sepsis, pneumonia, DKA, DTs, multi-system failure, spinal injuries, pre/post cath patients (radial approach), general surgery patients, respiratory compromise, CHF, COPD, GSW, stabbings, MVA, strokes, TBI, and various back surgeries. CVICU cases include 24h - post-op CABG (10/wk.), esophagectomy, TAVR (3/wk.), AAA repair, thoracic and vascular surgeries, and post arrest. Travelers are not expected to care for fresh CABG/TAVR, EVDs, post TPA, or any devices (ECMO, IABP, Impella, hypothermia protocol). Patient ratios: ICU 1:2; PCU/ACC/CCU 1:4; ER Holding - same ratio based on patient’s level of care. Support on the unit includes charge nurse; hospitalist, RT, and intensivist 24/7; cardiologist on call 24/7 for CVICU, CCU, and Cardiac Short Stay.

Shift & Scheduling: Schedule is typically made for 3-weeks at a time and comes out 7-10 days prior. Every other weekend. Could work back to back weekends (rare). No self-scheduling and no guarantee of a patterned schedule.

Floating Requirements: May float within Tacoma General to Neuro/Trauma/Medical/Cardiac ICU, CCU (cardiac step down), PCU/ACC, ED Holding, Med Surg units, and any open surge areas for the above units. Traveler could float to Allenmore Hospital as needed, around 2.5 miles away. This is not common but is a possibility. Travelers should be notified in advance if they are needed at Allenmore.

Uses GE telemetry monitor system, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, continuous bladder irrigation, and PCA pumps.

Shift & Scheduling: If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on department needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time. Weekend shifts are variable.

Floating Requirements: Required to float to other MS Tele units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.

Drips include heparin; rare PCA with morphine or Dilaudid. Uses Alaris pumps and Hercules beds; lines, drains, and devices include Hemovac, True-close, and JP drains. Oxygen support includes BiPAP if not continuous, nasal cannula, and occasional non-rebreather or Venturi mask; no vents or trachs. May team nurse with a small LPN population. Adult and geriatric patients.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend and every other holiday.

Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.

• Travel experience is preferred.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Ohio license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <60 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Anyone who worked at a facility in this program in the last 6 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Acute care experience must be current/today, working consistently in the last 12 months, and in the specialty to which they are applying. Interpretation of dysrhythmias, accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts, assist with chest tube insertion/removal, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and interpretation of ABGs.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Oncology experience is preferred. Teaching hospital experience is preferred.

Required Credentials: Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

Special Requests: References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years. You must be able to complete labs within 48 hours of signing. Cannot apply to any James Cancer Hospital & Research facilities if you have an active application to any Ohio State University facility.

Unit Details: Adult and geriatric patient population. Continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration. Soft tissue malignancy patients receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management. Symptom management related to disease treatment or progression and management of comorbidities. Common diagnoses include breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, esophageal cancer, sickle cell crises, and encounter for antineoplastic chemotherapy. Uses GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds.

Shift & Scheduling: 12-hour rotating day/night schedule; day shift 7:00-19:30 and night shift 19:00-7:30. If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on department needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time. Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs.

Floating Requirements: Required to float to other MedSurg Oncology units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.

• AUTO OFFER - NO INTERVIEW : This is an auto-offer position. You will likely not interview with the facility prior to receiving an offer. However, an interview can be arranged upon request. All time off requests must be submitted at application. Scheduling requests must be worked out with the manager directly upon starting the assignment. Any offers for this job will require a clear “Yes” or “No” response from the nurse within 24hrs or the offer must be declined.

7 days maximum time off. Start assignment restriction: 7 days

1 Manager reference required from within the last 2 years

1 Charge/Lead/Supervisor reference required from within the last 2 years
