Job Summary

  • The Wellstar Diagnostic Float Team (WEST Team) supports a variety of imaging services across our facilities. Region One includes Kennestone Hospital, North Fulton Hospital, and Windy Hill.
  • As a Mammography Technologist for Region One, you will apply your expertise to deliver safe, high-quality imaging and a supportive patient experience at each location you serve.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting
  • Minimum 2 years of Mammography experience in a hospital setting

Certifications

  • ARRT-R (Radiography)
  • ARRT-M (Mammography)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
  • Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly (AIDET) to reduce anxiety.
  • Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
  • Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
  • Use sound clinical judgment, clarify unclear orders (including RBAC for verbal orders), and assist in emergencies or across imaging areas when needed.
  • Operate mammography equipment safely, optimizing dose and technique, and keep equipment clean and ready per infection control/FDA guidelines.
  • Perform and document required ACR/MQSA QC tests and maintain records that support ACR, MQSA, EQUIP, and tracking system requirements.
  • Ensure all images are accurately labeled, oriented, and documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture for procedures.
  • Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked; apply shielding and immobilization devices appropriately.
  • Provide clear pre- and post-exam instructions, address questions or **escalate to providers**, and support training of new team members.
  • Maintain concise, timely documentation; stay current with emails and required education.
  • Communicate professionally, work well in a fast-paced team, and bring strong skills in anatomy, pathology, positioning, radiation safety, and mammography best practices.

Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school

The research portfolio encompasses human-subject and animal research, Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protocols, Quality Improvement (QI), Quality Assurance (QA), exempt and non-human-subject research, and related scholarly activities.

This is a full-time, primarily onsite position at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. Telework may be authorized in accordance with contract requirements and Government approval.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides overall leadership, management, and supervision of contractor personnel supporting NMCP clinical and scientific research activities.
  • Serves as the contractor's primary day-to-day management representative and maintains authority to act for the contractor on operational contract matters.
  • Provides continuity and sustainability for contractor-supported clinical and combat casualty care research programs.
  • Serves as a research Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting investigators conducting IRB- and IACUC-regulated studies.
  • Provides scientific and regulatory research guidance to NMCP departments and research personnel.
  • Supports Government Principal Investigators (PIs) and Clinical Protocol Developers in the formulation of research concepts, conceptual frameworks, study objectives, research strategies, and related scientific activities, subject to final Government approval.
  • Supports research activities across the lifecycle from research concept and protocol development through execution, regulatory compliance, data collection, reporting, presentation, publication, and dissemination.
  • Maintains and monitors research regulatory documentation, approval requirements, and associated timelines.
  • Monitors protocol deviations and associated corrective actions.
  • Supports research portfolio prioritization and alignment with the NMCP mission.

  • Supports investigator-initiated human and animal research, regulatory submissions and amendments, informed-consent documentation, scientific review, IRB/IACUC coordination, research databases, specimen activities, study reporting, and related research functions.
  • Conducts research seminars for contractor personnel and coordinates Government-approved research training when authorized.

  • Coordinates with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), Contracting Officer, NMCP CID leadership, Government PIs, and other authorized stakeholders.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of clinical, biomedical, health science, translational, or related scientific research.
  • Strong knowledge of IRB- and/or IACUC-regulated research and associated protocol requirements.

As a Statistician Intern within the Pharmaceuticals Statistics US department at Bayer, you will gain a direct view into research and development and witness how clinical trials influence decisions during the drug development process. This role provides a unique opportunity to work closely with senior-level Statisticians in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the analysis of clinical trial data and supporting highly knowledgeable trial and project Statisticians. At the end of your internship, you will present your research project to both the Statistics department and a non-statistical audience, enhancing your experience and exposure within the field.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work on a research project with senior-level Statisticians in a dynamic environment;
  • Become involved in the analysis of clinical trial data and programming;
  • Provide support to trial Statisticians and Project Statisticians;
  • Present your research project to the Statistics department and a non-statistical audience at the end of the internship.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, or related fields from an accredited college/university;
  • Must be motivated and well-organized;
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Good working knowledge of SAS, R, and/or Python;
  • Ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team as well as act autonomously, as appropriate.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The successful candidate must be a high performer interested in the interactions between science and policy, eager to work with dynamic people and contribute to a changing environment;
  • Candidates must be available for an assignment of up to three months at Bayer’s Whippany, New Jersey, site from mid-May to mid-August 2027 (different options are available);
  • Hybrid/home-based assignments will also be considered;
  • For non-US citizens, as required by current immigration law, it is the student’s responsibility to provide the appropriate documentation showing proof of eligibility to work and earn compensation in the United States.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $20.75 to $58.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc (if relevant).
