  • Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of patient care events and process improvement activities in accordance with MTF guidelines.
  • Administer medications, electrolytes, fluids, blood, and blood products.
  • Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provide care within ethical and legal boundaries.
  • Recognize medical emergencies and respond appropriately. Initiate CPR if required. Assist surgical team in administering advanced cardiac life support measures when necessary.
  • Provide perioperative nursing care for all types of patients admitted to the surgical suite for surgical intervention. Includes elective, urgent and emergency procedures on patients of all ages.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for all patients including newborns, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly; disabled to include visually and hearing impaired; and individuals of varying ethnic and religious backgrounds to include those who do not speak or understand English.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Registered nurse shall be a graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Shall hold a national or state nursing license that is valid and current with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions. License must be unencumbered and remain in effect during contract employment.
  • Shall have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate by the American Red Cross, Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). These certifications shall be maintained in a current status at all times while performing services under this contract at no expense to the Government.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) months of experience is mandatory in operating room assignments. Experience must include all phases of operating room technique such as preparing operating room units, preparing patients for surgery, and assisting medical officer during surgery; and conducting instrument and equipment sterilization procedures.
  • Must complete orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with (IAW) unit guidelines.
  • Must be able to read, understand, speak, and write English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
  • Must obtain and maintain the site's required health screening and immunization requirements.
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.
  • Must obtain and maintain all required documents, certifications, licenses, etc. listed on the credentialing checklist, sent by Katmai’s Credentialing Specialist, for this position for initial hire.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Schedule

  • Coordination of session flow : may advise the Therapist/RBT on the overall session flow and work with them to execute client specific navigation of the physical spaces of the center. Facilities Management

Parent Communication

  • Customer Service: contributes to the overall customer experience through their daily parent interactions related to on-the-floor application within therapy. SRBT shares joint responsibility in modeling effective customer interactions to therapist/RBTs.

Clinical Quality

  • LEARN Tree: may assist with the LEARN Tree by updating client’s programming under the BCBAs guidance, and programming direction provided by the BCBA
  • Plan Updates: may assist and contribute with these updates through observations of clients, and by assisting with the re-assessments and initial assessments of clients through material preparation and/or assisting with an assessment with the BCBA.

RBT/Therapists: Contribute and/or serve as back-up as appropriate to the following: New Hire Introductions, New Hire training, Training, Daily note quality check.

JOB DUTIES

  • Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, sedation, and applicability to the MRI protocol. Screen patients for MRI appropriateness and review any contraindications for exams including implants, metallic devices, or other foreign objects, which would prohibit or modify the MRI exam. Discuss findings with the physicist and radiologist as applicable. If modification of a MRI protocol is necessary consult with radiologist to determine appropriate sequences, parameters, etc. Document changes as appropriate in electronic health record. Ensure other resources such as nursing have been schedule accordingly.
  • Interviews patient (two patient identifier), conducts patient screening and obtains medical history pertaining to procedure's clinical criteria. Explains procedure and instructs patient on necessary requirements needed to provide diagnostic images. Answers questions/screening concerning procedures and IV contrast for relevant exams. Assists the physician as needed in performing procedures. Ensures that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
  • Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria. Completes exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner. Administers intravenous injections of contrast material as appropriate, observes patients for adverse reactions.
  • Performs MRI ensuring that patient meets safety requirements to MRI contraindications. Assist patient in dressing for exam and attends to patient's physical well-being while transporting to and from exam room and positioning for exam. Instructs/communicates with patient and/or patient's family (as appropriate) regarding the tests to be performed and evaluates the patient's ability to tolerate.
  • Performs QC testing and reports problems with MRI systems and workstations to the service engineer/biomed, with additional correspondence sent to the physicist and imaging leadership.
  • Maintains various data sets (ex. Baseline scans, 12 month scans, 24 month scans) and archives. Performs data calculations, scoring and statistical analyses while following established QC standards for digital images. Participates in accreditation imaging requirements.
  • Performs post processing on MRI systems and remote workstations. May include, but not limited to, MIPing, MPR, 3-D rendering, qualitative and color mapping for breast imaging, ADC mapping and color mapping of diffusion scans, cardiac analysis to assess cardiac function including ejection fractions and wall thickness, spectroscopy analysis, and calculation of T1 and T2 values. Must be able to lift 40-50lbs.
  • Responds to inquiries/calls/emails in a timely and professional manner. Communicates shift hand off regarding workflow issues with equipment or pending exams with oncoming staff. Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
  • Actively participates in providing orientation and training for new hires and students ensuring that procedures are performed according to set standards.
  • Functions in the department as a part of an interdisciplinary team, and collaborates in the care and service delivery process of patient care through effective communication with other service lines. Prioritizes exams with scheduling exams to ensure smooth workflow, minimize wait times and address stat and urgent requests.
  • Adheres to hospital policies, regulatory compliance, new yearly metrics/department goals, patient satisfaction, and fiscally responsible with regards to equipment, supplies scheduling, overtime, etc.

Qualifications


Required:



  • Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois. Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board. Once licensed may apply for a controlled substance license and DEA number OR Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program/Current license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois.   • Privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO)

  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation – BLS, issued by the American Heart Association
