Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Opportunity

This position provides anesthetic care for all types of patients and procedures in cooperation with the supervising or medically directing physician and under the standards of the Department of Anesthesiology and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. The CRNA administers anesthesia to patients rendering them insensitive to pain during surgery/procedures. Provide continuous vigilant observation of patients by monitoring the patient's physical reaction to sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetic agents and informs the anesthesiologist of any adverse condition that potentially threatens the safety or care of the patient. Will provide anesthetics in non-academic facilities and will be required to safely maintain a high volume, rapid pace environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

1. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, and APRN (Nurse Anesthetist) in the State of West Virginia is required.

2. Board Certified or Recertified by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintains excellence in airway management and usage of all airway adjuncts. i.e., bullard, fiberoptic scope, ILMA, etc.

2. Takes appropriate precautions to minimize risks of infection of patients, and other health care professionals.

3. Participates in the pre-anesthetic evaluation of the patients and the selection of anesthetic agents and techniques.

4. Performs appropriate techniques of the anesthetic plan such as, but not limited to, insertion of intravenous catheters, insertion of invasive monitoring catheters according to established protocol; endotracheal intubation and extubation; performing arterial punctures for interpretation of arterial blood gases.

5. Monitors patient's physical response to the anesthetic and informs the anesthesiologist of any adverse condition. Manages the anesthesia process to include induction, maintenance, and emergence of general, regional, and monitored anesthesia cases. Recognizes abnormal patient responses to anesthesia or to any adjunctive medication or form of therapy. Initiate corrective measures.

6. Determines the need for additional laboratory tests and provide resuscitative care as necessary. Evaluates and manages the patient in the immediate post-operative period.

7. Administers IV fluids relative to the patient's medical history and surgical procedure. Administers blood products after obtaining a hematocrit and then consultation with the anesthesiologist.

8. Appropriately documents the patient status in the anesthesia record.

9. Performs all required safety and performance checks on anesthesia-related equipment and verify the appropriate supplies before initiating care. Procures and assemble equipment and supplies as indicated if anesthesia tech is not available.

10. In accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards, reviews appropriate documentation for informed consent and identifies appropriate surgical site during SBAR with circulating RN and holding room RN. Participates in surgical pause in the OR with entire surgical team in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards.

11. Communicates appropriately with all individuals involved in the peri-operative and post-operative care of the patient.

12. In a life-threatening emergency, functions responsibly by providing anesthesia care in the absence of an anesthesiologist.

13. Assists with the teaching and evaluation of newly-hired CRNAs, GRNAs, SRNAs, and medical students in the clinical area.

14. Assumes responsibility and is accountable for controlled substances according to department and hospital policy and State and federal guidelines.

15. Efficiently provide anesthetics conducive to rapid turnover and high case volume.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring uninterrupted global supply of investigational medicinal product (IMP) while building scalable processes to support growing clinical program complexity.

This role partners closely with Clinical Operations, CMC, Quality, and Regulatory to align supply planning, manufacturing, and trial execution. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in biologics and global clinical trial supply, including hands-on support of late-stage clinical programs in a fast-paced biopharma environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop clinical supply strategies across Phase 13 programs
  • Ensure uninterrupted supply of IMP across global, multi-region clinical trials
  • Lead the team in end-to-end clinical supply operations, including packaging, labeling, distribution, returns, reconciliation and destruction.
  • Provide strategy and support in global logistics, including import/export activities and depot strategy, ensuring compliance with country-specific labeling and regulatory requirements

  • Support inspection readiness and regulatory submissions related to clinical supply

  • Proven experience supporting global clinical trials (including EU, APAC, Canada), including multi-region labeling and distribution requirements

  • Perform advanced minimally invasive and robotic colorectal procedures, including colorectal cancer resections, inflammatory bowel disease surgery, and pelvic floor disorders.
  • Collaborate closely with gastroenterology, oncology, radiation oncology, and pathology teams within a multidisciplinary framework to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in colorectal cancer program initiatives, including tumor boards and quality improvement efforts.
  • Maintain an active elective surgical practice aligned with the surgeon's clinical expertise and interests.
  • Participate in shared call coverage in coordination with the broader surgical team.
  • Engage in the education of medical students and general surgery residents in the operating room, clinic, and academic settings.

Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school; successful completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Colorectal Surgery fellowship required.

  • Demonstrated expertise in minimally invasive and robotic colorectal surgical techniques.
  • Experience managing complex colorectal conditions, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Florida.
