Our East Florida Graduate Medical Education Division currently encompasses 44 high-quality residency and fellowship programs across 9 teaching hospitals and continues to grow its UME and GME footprint. The Gastroenterology Program Director will have the responsibility, authority, and accountability for the operations of the program, in compliance with applicable ACGME and American Board of Medical Specialties regulations and requirements. In this role, the Program Director will be part of the overall Graduate Medical Education leadership within the HCA Healthcare East Florida Division and will collaborate with other Program Directors, GME Directors, Hospital Leadership, and a variety of other stakeholders to assure the highest quality of education and the program. By joining HCA Healthcare as a medical education leader, the Program Director will become part of the largest Graduate Medical Education provider in the US, and will have the opportunity to help shape the direction and goals of medical education at the Division and at the national level. This role also gives the Gastroenterology Program Director the opportunity to practice in his/her desired specialty at the primary and/or closely affiliated sites, under employment by HCA or one of its area specialty partners. Based on the program size and ACGME requirements, it will be expected that the Program Director spends 20% 30% in administration and teaching related to the program and 70% - 80%with clinical activities.
The Gastroenterology Program Director will also have the opportunity to join the academic faculty of one of our partner medical schools, namely the Nova Southeastern University Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine, and engage in the education of medical students, as well as collaborative research and scholarship. The academic rank will depend on the candidate s experience.
Requirements: It will be required that the Program Director is certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in his/her specialty, will obtain a License to practice medicine in Florida, and be credentialed at the facilities of his/her clinical engagement. The ideal candidate has at least three 3 years of clinical experience in an academic/teaching environment, and has demonstrated involvement in medical education leadership, as well as active involvement in research and scholarship over the past 5 years. Candidates with experience as Program Director, APD, and/or Core Faculty with leadership involvement are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities: The Program Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, in compliance with ACGME and ABMS regulations and requirements, including the development and administration of a high-quality curriculum, resident and faculty scholarly activity, faculty evaluation and development, assessment and mentorship of residents, evaluation and development of the program, engagement with hospital leadership and the community, budget oversight, resident recruitment efforts, and timely communication with regulatory agencies and division leadership. Banner - University Medicine is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Interventional Cardiologist to join the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine in Tucson. This full-time opportunity combines high-quality clinical care, collaboration across cardiovascular subspecialties, and the teaching and scholarly mission of an academic medical center.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary cardiology practice of approximately 29 providers and care for patients with both common and complex coronary and cardiovascular conditions. The division includes programs in coronary intervention, structural heart, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, advanced imaging, and cardiovascular surgery, creating a strong environment for coordinated care, education, and program growth.
Position Highlights 1.0 FTE faculty physician position in Interventional Cardiology (non-structural position)
Practice within a comprehensive, multidisciplinary cardiovascular service line
Provide inpatient and outpatient interventional cardiology care within an academic medical center
Perform coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary interventions consistent with training, credentials, and granted privileges
Evaluate and manage patients before and after invasive cardiovascular procedures
Participate in shared clinical coverage and call responsibilities with physician colleagues
Teach and mentor cardiology fellows, residents, medical students, and other health-professions learners

Procedural care. Perform diagnostic and interventional coronary procedures and provide appropriate pre-procedure assessment, informed consent, post-procedure management, and longitudinal follow-up.
Team collaboration. Partner closely with general cardiology, structural heart, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, cardiovascular surgery, imaging, hospital medicine, nursing, and advanced practice providers.
Education. Contribute to the education, supervision, and professional development of fellows, residents, students, and members of the cardiovascular care team.
Quality and safety. Support clinical quality, patient safety, appropriate utilization, peer review, and continuous-improvement efforts within the cardiovascular program.
Academic contribution. Participate in scholarly work, clinical investigation, programmatic growth, and service consistent with interests and assigned effort.
