Director, AI Engineering (Remote - eligible)
Capital One
Mc Lean, VA

Director, AI Engineering

At Capital One, we are creating responsible and reliable AI systems, changing banking for good. For years, Capital One has been an industry leader in using machine learning to create real-time, personalized customer experiences. Our investments in technology infrastructure and world-class talent along with our deep experience in machine learning position us to be at the forefront of enterprises leveraging AI. From informing customers about unusual charges to answering their questions in real time, our applications of AI & ML are bringing humanity and simplicity to banking. We are committed to continuing to build world-class applied science and engineering teams to deliver our industry leading capabilities with breakthrough product experiences and scalable, high-performance AI infrastructure. At Capital One, you will help bring the transformative power of emerging AI capabilities to reimagine how we serve our customers and businesses who have come to love the products and services we build.

About the Team

The Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team is at the center of bringing our vision for AI at Capital One to life. We work hand-in-hand with our partners across the company to advance the state of the art in science and AI engineering, and we build and deploy proprietary solutions that are central to our business and deliver value to millions of customers. Our AI models and platforms empower teams across Capital One to enhance their products with the transformative power of AI, in responsible and scalable ways for the highest leverage impact.

This team owns the infrastructure layer between applications and foundation models: model access, routing, reliability, security integration, observability, and cost management behind a single governed interface. Product teams build on the platform instead of integrating with model providers directly, which means the enterprise adopts new model capability once, centrally, rather than many times over. Sitting in the request path for every AI-powered application makes latency, reliability, and efficiency company-level outcomes rather than local ones.

This team also owns a measurement and attribution layer that makes consumption legible to the optimization capabilities that act on it, including intelligent routing, caching, context optimization, and capacity planning. The objective is cost per unit of business outcome, not spend reduction in isolation. The architecture set now will determine the enterprise's cost curve and build velocity for years, and this role owns both those decisions and the teams that execute them.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with a cross-functional team of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that change how our associates work and how our customers interact with Capital One
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and support AI software components including foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability, etc.
  • Make high judgment build-vs-buy decisions across a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch, and more
  • Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve the performance scalability, cost, latency, throughput of large scale production AI systems
  • Contribute to the technical vision and the long term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One
  • Attract and retain top talent in the AI industry and nurture personal and professional development for your team. Foster a culture of learning and staying abreast of the state-of-the-art in AI

The Ideal Candidate:

  • You love to build systems, take pride in the quality of your work, and also share our passion to do the right thing. You want to work on problems that will help change banking for good
  • Passion for staying abreast of the latest research, and an ability to intuitively understand scientific publications and judiciously apply novel techniques in production
  • You get fulfillment from empowering others to achieve their potential and you actively drive professional development through mentoring and coaching. You are hands-on when necessary and lead by example
  • You adapt quickly and thrive on bringing clarity to big, undefined problems. You love asking questions and digging deep to uncover the root of problems and can articulate your findings concisely with clarity. You have the courage to share new ideas even when they are unproven
  • You are deeply technical. You possess a strong foundation in engineering and mathematics, and your expertise in hardware, software, and AI enable you to see and exploit optimization opportunities that others miss
  • You are a resilient trailblazer who can forge new paths to achieve business goals when the route is unknown

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI plus at least 8 years of experience developing or leading AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or Master's degree plus at least 6 years of experience developing or leading AI and ML algorithms or technologies
  • At least 3 years of people leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team
  • 7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud)
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field
  • Passion for staying up to date with the latest AI research and AI systems, and judiciously apply novel techniques in production
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts to peers

Manager, Channel Partnerships | Private Equity
Paribus (Ramp)
New York, NY

About Ramp

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.

The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.

We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you've built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.

The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.

If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.

About the Role

Ramp is building a scaled Private Equity channel that makes Ramp the trusted financial-operations partner for PE firms and their portfolio companies. The Manager, Channel Partner Management Private Equity will lead an established five-person team of Channel Partner Managers and raise the quality, rigor, and efficiency of an existing motion.

The team includes one Upmarket PE CPM, focused on the most strategic and complex sponsor relationships, and four Core / Downmarket PE CPMs, focused on scaled coverage, activation, and portfolio-company pipeline generation. This leader is not being hired to redesign the team or recategorize the program. They will make the current team more effective: clarifying expectations, improving performance, and ensuring each CPM has the tools, coaching, and cross-functional support to execute at a high level.

This is a people-leadership and operating-excellence rolenot a player-coach role defined by personally owning every senior relationship or stepping into every deal. The manager will diagnose performance and conversion gaps, coach specific skills, establish a rigorous inspection cadence, and hold a high bar for accountability. They will work closely with Channel, Sales, Marketing, Finance, RevOps, and other partners to improve collateral and partner messaging, refine activation and incentive plans, strengthen account and portfolio planning, and remove friction from the CPM workflow.

The goal is continuous improvement: make the team more poised with partners, more commercially disciplined, more efficient in how it spends time, and more consistent in turning PE relationships into high-quality outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a five-person PE CPM team: one Upmarket PE CPM and four Core / Downmarket PE CPMs
  • Set clear role charters, coverage models, capacity expectations, and success metrics by segment; ensure the Upmarket motion receives the depth it needs while Core / Downmarket operates with speed and repeatability
  • Build the team's commercial operating rhythm across sourced pipeline, qualified opportunities, closed-won revenue, partner activation, portfolio coverage, conversion, velocity, and partner health
  • Coach CPMs from real partner interactions and account plans: identify the specific skill gap, prescribe an intervention, inspect behavior change, and hold a high bar for outcomes
  • Partner with Sales, Account Management, Customer Success, Finance, ChOps, Growth, and leadership to convert PE influence into high-quality pipeline and strategic account outcomes
  • Recruit, onboard, performance-manage, and retain a high-performing, collaborative team
  • Serve as an executive point of escalation for the team's most strategic PE relationships, using judgment about when to coach, join, or personally intervene
  • Use AI and automation to improve research, portfolio coverage, executive preparation, relationship tracking, and team productivity
  • Help shape the evolving PE channel strategy and codify repeatable playbooks for the broader Channel organization

What You Need

  • 5+ years of relevant quota carrying experience, ideally with a focus on Private Equity firms and their portfolio companies
  • 1+ years of people-management experience, ideally leading a revenue-carrying partnerships, sales, or account-management team
  • Demonstrated success building and managing a complex book of investor, sponsor, or enterprise partner relationships with measurable commercial outcomes
  • Strong commercial judgment: can distinguish influence from source, quantify partner impact, and prioritize finite team capacity against the highest-value opportunities
  • A rigorous, data-driven management style; comfortable using funnel health, conversion, velocity, activity quality, and account/partner signals to coach and allocate resources
  • Executive presence with PE partners, operating teams, CFOs, and internal senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, create structure, and drive cross-functional outcomes without relying on formal authority
  • High standards for performance management, feedback, and talent development

Nice to Haves

  • Fintech, payments, expense management, AP, procurement, or CFO-software experience
  • Experience designing partner programs, referral mechanics, or account-mapping motions
