MHS is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. In this unique and life-changing career, couples reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 8–13 students living in the home. Flex Houseparents play a vital role in creating a structured, family-like environment that fosters students’ academic, emotional, and social development so they can reach their full potential.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing daily supervision and mentorship
  • Managing household routines and student schedules
  • Administering medications and ensuring student wellness
  • Driving students to activities, as well as planning and actively engaging in developmental and recreational activities with students
  • Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel
  • Overseeing budgeting and household reporting

Upon hire, Flex Houseparents initially support various student homes and follow a working schedule of nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off. On weekdays, houseparents have unscheduled time while students are in school. Flex Houseparents eventually transition into a Placed Houseparent role, where they live and work with the same group of students in their own student home.

We are currently seeking a General Maintenance Tech III to work at our Liverpool, NY office supporting the Eastern New York Region.

Position will cover 3 offices: Liverpool, Watertown and New Hartford, NY. Monthly trips to Watertown and New Hartford.

Work Schedule: core hours are M-F, 8 am to 5 pm (some flexibility with the daily schedule); will be on-call 7 days per week but typical calls-ins only once or twice per month.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Under limited supervision, the General Maintenance Tech III will perform repairs and maintenance in the 3 facilities. The General Maintenance Technician typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair and electrical. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD:

  • Maintain and repair organization's facilities and properties involving routine tasks and responsibilities.  Correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems.  Paint structures and equipment as needed.  Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies.

  • Repair appliances and equipment.  Troubleshoot boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment; otherwise, call in vendor for advanced work.  Estimate time and material costs of various projects.  Requisition new supplies and equipment.

  • Review maintenance records to identify recurring deficiencies; plan and implement corrective maintenance or repairs.

  • May troubleshoot and repair all building HVAC related equipment. Will call in vendors for advanced repair work.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

  • Will drive a company vehicle to other locations.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: High School or equivalent required.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.  Related experience includes skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required.  HVAC certification is NOT required.

  • Skills & Abilities:  Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is desirable. Must have basic writing and communication skills. Required to have basic computer skills. Will have on-call duties.  Ability to work on a team. Self-starter with good interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Travel: Will drive a company vehicle to other locations. A current valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

The salary range for this position is (New York):  up to $24-25/hour (plus on-call pay: $20/weekday and $25/weekends and holidays); Eligible for overtime.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Under limited supervision, the General Maintenance Tech III will perform repairs and maintenance in the 3 facilities. The General Maintenance Technician typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair and electrical. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

  • Repair appliances and equipment.  Troubleshoot boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment; otherwise, call in vendor for advanced work.  Estimate time and material costs of various projects.  Requisition new supplies and equipment.

  • Review maintenance records to identify recurring deficiencies; plan and implement corrective maintenance or repairs.

  • May troubleshoot and repair all building HVAC related equipment. Will call in vendors for advanced repair work.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

  • Will drive a company vehicle to other locations.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: High School or equivalent required.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.  Related experience includes skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required.  HVAC certification is NOT required.

  • Skills & Abilities:  Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is desirable. Must have basic writing and communication skills. Required to have basic computer skills. Will have on-call duties.  Ability to work on a team. Self-starter with good interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Travel: Will drive a company vehicle to other locations. A current valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

The salary range for this position is (New York):  up to $24-25/hour (plus on-call pay: $20/weekday and $25/weekends and holidays); Eligible for overtime.

  • Travel: Will drive a company vehicle to other locations. A current valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

Position will cover 3 offices: Liverpool, Watertown and New Hartford, NY. Monthly trips to Watertown and New Hartford.

Work Schedule: core hours are M-F, 8 am to 5 pm (some flexibility with the daily schedule); will be on-call 7 days per week but typical calls-ins only once or twice per month.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Under limited supervision, the General Maintenance Tech III will perform repairs and maintenance in the 3 facilities. The General Maintenance Technician typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair and electrical. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

We are currently seeking a General Maintenance Tech III to work at our Liverpool, NY office supporting the Eastern New York Region.

Position will cover 3 offices: Liverpool, Watertown and New Hartford, NY. Monthly trips to Watertown and New Hartford.

Work Schedule: core hours are M-F, 8 am to 5 pm (some flexibility with the daily schedule); will be on-call 7 days per week but typical calls-ins only once or twice per month.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Under limited supervision, the General Maintenance Tech III will perform repairs and maintenance in the 3 facilities. The General Maintenance Technician typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair and electrical. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD:

  • Maintain and repair organization's facilities and properties involving routine tasks and responsibilities.  Correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems.  Paint structures and equipment as needed.  Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies.

  • Repair appliances and equipment.  Troubleshoot boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment; otherwise, call in vendor for advanced work.  Estimate time and material costs of various projects.  Requisition new supplies and equipment.

  • Review maintenance records to identify recurring deficiencies; plan and implement corrective maintenance or repairs.

  • May troubleshoot and repair all building HVAC related equipment. Will call in vendors for advanced repair work.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

  • Will drive a company vehicle to other locations.
