Gastroenterology Physician
Montefiore Medical Center

Montefiore Medical Center's distinguished Gastroenterologists perform approximately 14,000 procedures annually, using the most advanced endoscopy and colonoscopy technology to treat disorders of the digestive system. Through the support of our researchers, our physicians have access to the most advanced technology, treatments and diagnostics in Gastroenterological care, especially colorectal and liver cancer. This opportunity is to join our team of 12 FT Gastroenterology faculty and 1 NP based at our Weiler campus. We are in the process of hiring 1-2 PAs in the next few months to add to our growing team. Advanced therapeutics not required, though welcome. All GI procedures are done. GI inpatient care strictly consultative. Consult service staffed by GI fellows at all times and supervised by all faculty members on a rotating basis. Generally, ranges from 3-8 new consults per day. Inpatient consult service coverage 5-6 weeks per year. Fellow endoscopy coverage 1-2 -day sessions per week. Remainder is outpatient care with time in modern, LPN-staffed ambulatory site (Hutch Tower or Taxter Road) and ambulatory endoscopy center (New York GI)

The more common procedures include:

  • Colonoscopy and removal of polyps
  • Upper endoscopy
  • Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Endoscopic ultrasound
  • Esophageal and rectal manometry
  • Liver biopsy
  • Capsule endoscopy
  • Endoscopic reflux therapy
  • Gastrointestinal motility services

First, a member of the Gastrointestinal Division thoroughly evaluates each patient, educates the patient about his or her condition and treatment options, and determines a treatment plan. If an endoscopy is required, the patient receives the procedure at the endoscopy unit or at our nearby Ambulatory Endoscopy Center.

Responsibilities

An innovative and enthusiastic individual with change management skills is required to foster an environment of professionalism to achieve the goals of SLC and the anesthesiology department. Functional Responsibilities

  • The Chief/Site Director will have responsibility for the daily management of the SLC Department of Anesthesiology s clinical and administrative activities. He or she will perform the tasks that are necessary for the department to provide quality care and overall patient satisfaction with anesthesiology services at the campus.
  • Assign daily duties and responsibilities to anesthesiologists and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and assist them to effectively carry out those duties and responsibilities.

  • Manage the Pre-anesthesia Evaluation process.

  • Implement Departmental policies and procedures as directed by the Chair

In 2021, this extremely busy department performed over 1200 ablations and 1000 implantable devices. The section is intimately involved in numerous clinical trials in cardiac electrophysiology.
