Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. Working in a variety of settings, the SLP develops and implements individualized treatment plans aimed at enhancing speech, language, and cognitive-communication abilities. They collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and caregivers to facilitate improved communication outcomes and overall quality of life.

Essential Work Functions:

  • Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observation to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a diverse patient population
  • Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings, patient goals, and evidence-based practices
  • Continuously assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain detailed, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on effective communication strategies, home-based exercises, and safe swallowing practices, while offering supportive counseling as required
  • Work in conjunction with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate a comprehensive approach to patient care
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients' comfort needs during therapy sessions

L&D Travel Nurses provide care and support for women before, during and after delivery of a baby. L&D RNs must ensure that the medical as well as emotional needs of their patients are met at all times throughout the birthing process. As an L&D RN, you'll be responsible for assisting physicians when epidurals or pain medications are administered, episiotomies are performed, or when the patient requires preparation for a cesarean delivery. As an L&D Travel Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:

  • Stay with and monitor patient throughout labor.
  • Monitor contractions and help patients with breathing techniques.
  • Check cervix periodically to monitor progression/lack of dilation.

AR Account Follow-Up Specialist

This is an on-site position located at the Birmingham Business Office.

Summary: Under general supervision, an AR Account Follow-Up Specialist is responsible for account follow-up for all assigned accounts, resolving billing problems and answering patient inquiries. Uses collection techniques to keep accounts receivable current including monitoring for delinquent payments. The Account Follow-Up Specialist will review insurance claims and take appropriate action including completion of submissions, reconsiderations, appeals, and denial management to ensure payment is received timely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs audits of patient accounts to ensure accuracy and timely payment.

Follows up on insurance billing to ensure timely receipt of payments.

Demonstrates the ability to deal with patients and insurance companies regarding sensitive financial matters and recapture unpaid balances.

Receives and resolves patient billing complaints and questions; initiates adjustments as necessary; follows up on all zero payment explanations of benefits and exercises all options to obtain claim payments.

Reviews credit balance reports for correct recipient of refund.

Performs reconciliation of refund accounts; attaches documentation and forwards to supervisor to process refund checks.

Identifies problems on accounts and follows through to conclusion.

Responds to insurance companies requests for information in a prompt and professional manner.

Reviews EOBs to ensure proper reimbursement of claims and reports any problems, issues, or payor trends to supervisor.

Prepares write-off requests with appropriate documentation and submits to supervisor.

Processes insurance/patient correspondence.

Works with provided aging to monitor patient account aging and follows up appropriately.

Maintains confidentiality in regard to patient account status and the financial affairs of clinic/corporation.

Other relevant duties as assigned.

Demonstrated knowledge of the federal, state, and local regulatory requirements around medical billing and coding as well as CMS and payer regulations.

Ability to work independently.

Able to manage multiple projects at once working efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines.

Experience with oncology billing experience highly desirable.

  • Execute intake checklist [as defined by practice], perform trained documentation workflows in AthenaHealth EMR
  • Perform and document in-clinic testing and imaging (e.g., EKGs, cardiac monitoring, ABI's)
  • Manage all aspects of patient prescription needs, including: placing orders, coordinating care with pharmacies, answering patient questions & managing renewal requests
  • Manage medication refills, prior authorizations, and appeals
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Need

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in a healthcare office is required.
  • EKG Certification is required.
  • Strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), clinical and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and reliability (i.e. attendance and punctuality)
  • Ability to create and sustain meaningful patient experiences.

Requirements:
