We are hiring a Civil Engineering Technical Manager to support our Aviation team in Nashville, TN. The position requires strong knowledge and enthusiasm for aviation projects, technical authority for airside/landside systems, and assisting with production tasks in a multi-task environment. Focus areas include aviation design and planning. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a team spirit, a can-do attitude, and the ability to maintain positive relationships.

Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
  • Strong Civil 3D experience (10+ years, but can be flexible for the right candidate)
  • Commercial service airport experience
  • Tennessee general aviation experience
  • Strong understanding of FAA design and construction specifications
  • Airfield pavement design experience
  • Airport hydraulic design experience
  • Ability/willingness to train others
  • Understanding of project financials, solely as it relates to project execution
  • Ability to coordinate with design teams, agency contacts and Project Managers on delivering design packages.
  • Collaborate with multiple civil disciplines working as a team to solve design challenges.
  • A passion for quality, schedule, and resource planning.
  • Develops processes to improve efficiency.

Compensation The approximate compensation range for this position is $109,179 to $189,139. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

Supervisor Maintenance

Oversee and perform a variety of simple to complex roadway maintenance activities. Supervise a crew and provide technical guidance to crew members performing maintenance activities and equipment operation.

How you will contribute:

  • Communication: Effectively communicate with citizens, public officials, state employees and business people demonstrating sensitivity for their opinions and suggestions. Respond with accurate and complete information to inquiries and requests. Communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally with customers. Provide customers with information related to the status of their work requests as required. May require travel and work outside of the traditional district boundaries which may cause a temporary change to the work schedule.
  • Emergency Operations: Supervise emergency operations to ensure the safe operation of roadways. Support emergency operations including storm damage repairs, clearing roadways of snow, ice and debris, accident clean-up, and providing traffic control during and after normal working hours.
  • Leadership: Assist the Area Superintendent in planning for the maintenance program, special projects, and personnel needs. Investigate and recommend solutions to operations and maintenance complaints. Estimate repair, construction and materials costs. Assist in ordering, storing and utilizing AHQ materials. Assist and advise crew on difficult and unusual problems when necessary.
  • Provide Leadership in Traffic Control Devices: Work with supervisors and managers at assigned locations to plan, schedule, supervise and perform the placement, maintenance and removal of traffic control devices for work zones, detours, lane closures, etc., according to the MUTCD. Receive and respond to work orders. Order and track inventory and maintain records.
  • Records Preparation and Management: Prepare and maintain program and project documentation. Assist in the preparation of budget reports, data and records. Assist in forecasting additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies. Monitor expenditures and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Safety: Identify proper work site protection techniques. Ensure workplace safety by identifying hazards and making suggestions for improvement. Wear proper personal protection equipment. Maintain current knowledge of safety rules, regulations, laws and procedures (OSHA and VOSHA, etc.). Ensure equipment is used properly and safely. Apply MUTCD for detours, lane closures, work zones, etc. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment. Follow VDOT Safety Regulations and Practices.
  • Supervision: Schedule and direct the activities of personnel and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to accomplish planned and assigned work within established timeframes. Assign daily work and monitor work performed; provide onsite direction and guidance; complete daily work reports including time, equipment and materials. Participate in staff development activities to include on-the-job training, identify additional training needs, and provide input to staff performance evaluations. Work with others to provide new ideas and improvements. Perform an IMS analysis related to ordering road stock to determine the best quantity to order.
  • Vehicle and Equipment Operations and Preventive Maintenance: Demonstrate considerable skill in the operation and maintenance of vehicles and equipment (light, medium and heavy duty) to perform roadway maintenance and construction activities. Apply specialized knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance techniques. Perform maintenance repair, replacement and preventive maintenance. Complete pre-trips inspections for vehicles and equipment operated.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and/or vendors while carrying out site-specific procedures, policies, and emergency response activities in a healthcare setting.
  • Respond to incidents, medical emergencies, disruptive behavior, and other critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and communicating with appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, assist with directions and facility information, and report suspicious activity, hazards, and/or policy violations to the appropriate contacts.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain required documentation for incidents, patrols, and security-related observations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
