Position Overview
The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the testing, calibration, installation, repair, and inspection of manufacturing control and monitoring devices. This role supports continuous improvement by ensuring accurate measurement systems and reliable instrumentation across operations.
Essential Job Functions
- Calibrate all equipment under the responsibility of the Instrumentation Department, maintaining calibration schedules and accurate records in accordance with company procedures
- Coordinate and oversee outside calibration vendors, including purchase order accuracy, customer requirement flow-down, and verification of completed work
- Perform periodic calibration of secondary standards traceable to NIST, documenting results per company standards
- Interpret and analyze instrumentation abnormalities, correct deviations, and perform necessary repairs
- Support Maintenance with troubleshooting of complex electrical systems, motor drives, hydraulic controls, rectifiers, power supplies, and water-cooling systems
- Maintain leak detectors and assist with leak checking when Production or Maintenance requires support
- Install new instrumentation or modify existing equipment as directed by Facilities Engineering and/or Maintenance
- Layout and construct electronic circuits using schematics, making modifications as needed to ensure proper functionality
- Troubleshoot electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment
- Maintain working knowledge of computers and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including loading and verifying programs
- Train and assist employees on the use and operation of new instruments and control equipment
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision
Education/Experience
- Associate Degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school OR
- One year of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in manufacturing, foundry, metal casting, and/or vacuum processing environments is a huge plus
Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints
- Solid foundation in mathematics and measurement concepts
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Proficiency with computers and software (GagePack, Microsoft Office, maintenance systems)

TIG Welder I - Aerospace Parts Manufacturing - Swing Shift

Primary Purpose:
The Welder I TIG welds in a chamber under argon atmosphere on titanium castings for the aerospace industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Titanium TIG welding in chamber to repair castings, following all applicable procedures.
- Using tools such as calipers, profile templates, etc., to accurately repair castings.
- Working with your team on rework plans to make castings conform to specification.
- Using grinder to shape tungsten.
- Load and unload castings from chamber.
- Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of formal vocation program or prior TIG welding experience (1-2 years) preferred.
- Must pass welding test within 4-6 weeks of being in position.
- Must successfully complete an annual eye exam.
- This position requires ability to bend, lift, push, and pull (to place castings in and out of the tank) with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must have basic high-school level math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Able to use small, fine tools.
- Good attendance record required.
- Requires continuous mental and/or visual attention to detail.
- Able to understand measurements; read and use measurement tools correctly.
- Able to work as a team player and be self-motivated.
- Able to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- HS diploma or equivalent GED required, but candidates not meeting this requirement who possesses relevant experience will be considered.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Solid job history including more than 1 year at previous or recent employer.

What you'll be doing:
- Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies to support all maintenance functions.
- Responsible for basic maintenance support for startup operations such as, lights, dust collectors, air filtration systems, etc.
- Monitor machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replace Design, assemble and install electronic control systems for production machinery and associated automated equipment’s gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair machine level control systems, which utilize programmable logic controllers.
- Perform preventive maintenance per schedule.
- Communicate with operators pre- and post-repair.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
- Follow lock-out/tag out procedures.
- Responsible for adherence to all safety policies, practices and procedures.
Requirements:
- Education: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experienced Forklift drivers preferred.
- Language skills: Ability to read, understand, and comprehend documents. Ability to speak effectively and interact with other team members, engineers, and leadership.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to use basic gages and measuring devices.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and diagram form.
- The ability to be reliable, work overtime as needed, and be committed to working at our Chittenango, NY facility.

- Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.

Summary:
The Controls and Automation Engineer reports to the Facilities Manager and is responsible for maintaining and improving the functionality and performance of mission critical automation and control systems in an industrial environment. The position will work with Maintenance, Production, Quality, Information Technologies, and Process Engineering departments to accomplish goals related to automation, process, and quality improvements, cost reduction, and equipment obsolescence and integration.

- Analyze and troubleshoot equipment and process problems using control systems, SCADA, data archive, and analysis tools
- Lead, execute, and be accountable for large projects with limited supervision
- Design and administer automation system training packages

- Implement controls and automation solutions to improve equipment reliability
- Prepare specification for purchase of material, components, systems, services, and equipment
- Create and modify controls schematics, single line diagrams, instrument loop drawings, and control system flow diagrams
- Oversee, direct and supervise contractors and consultants during construction, modification, and installation of plant equipment, facilities, and systems
- Lead/participate in problem-solving activities; engineer and implement solutions

Major Responsibilities
- Responsible for interpreting melting and casting specifications for an Air melt unit.
- Ability to set up air and/or vacuum unit to meet required melting parameters.
- Must be able tolerate high heat temperatures and handling molten metal.
- Responsible for leading the pouring process
- Required to perform the functions of a Shell Puller and a Patch & Wrap Operator as needed.
- Maintain excellent attendance
- Ability to follow written procedures and standard work
- Maintain a clean, organized work area
- Comply with all safety, DOT, HAZMAT and environmental policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Certifications/Licenses: Forklift license may be required
- Experience: Entry Level Position but foundry experience preferred – Prior manufacturing experience a plus
Working Conditions:
- Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
- The physical effort applied in this job includes lifting, pulling, reaching, manipulating, carrying, pushing, or shoveling.
- Manufacturing requires repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and arms.
