The Position

The ideal candidate will have experience in the provision of quality GYN and significant surgical services utilizing conventional straight-stick and/or robotic-assisted laparoscopy. This position will participate in practice call.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of OB/GYNs, Certified Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants providing full scope of care to women across Northern New Mexico. Your modern clinic is within minutes of an award‑winning hospital equipped with the latest technology, including Da Vinci Xisurgical robots.

You will benefit from a seamless workflow utilizing Epic EMR across all care settings as you diagnose and provide treatment for a wide range of gynecologic conditions, including the following:

  • Abnormal uterine bleeding, fibroids
  • Pelvic pain, endometriosis
  • Abnormal cervical cytology
  • Amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, menorrhagia
  • Menopause care and benign gynecologic conditions

Obstetrics Practice Considerations

While obstetric care is not a required component of this position, candidates interested in providing obstetrical services alongside gynecologic and surgical responsibilities may opt into the following:

  • Opportunity to provide clinic-based obstetrical care in addition to standard gyn/surg duties; inclusive of APC collaboration and support.
  • Opportunity to provide OB hospital/laborist shifts in L&D – 24‑hour in‑house shifts with compensation of $3,600 per shift worked (no RVUs).

Obstetrical care can be combined into one FTE or the laborist shifts can be in addition to the gyn/surg FTE as a true‑extra shift earning opportunity.

NOTE: Physicians with hospital obstetrical privileges will participate in the emergency OB back‑up call rotation regardless of whether they opt to provide 24‑hour laborist shifts. The emergency backup OB is rarely activated but is an important component to ensuring adequate surgical backup coverage for our labor & delivery program.

Non‑Academic Anesthesiologist

The Associate Physician (board eligible/board certified) reports directly to the clinical Vice Chair and Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and exercises a peer relationship with other faculty, residents, fellows, medical students, nursing personnel, and ancillary personnel in the role of patient care. It is the expectation that physicians will work in a collegial manner combining clinical duties with instruction of residents, medical students and certified registered nurse anesthetists. This position requires a thorough comprehension of the complex interactions between physiology, pathology, co‑morbid medical conditions, pharmacology and procedural disruptions of homeostasis as such comprehension underlies the safe and effective practice of the discipline of anesthesiology. MSP providers must possess an understanding of quality‑of‑care standards as set forth by the American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA) and UCDH to administer anesthesia to a wide range of patients undergoing surgical, obstetric, diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures across UCDH locations.
